Hello beautiful souls! I am wishing you all well through the December full moon (the 15th) and this holiday time. In this time, leading into the depths of winter the best gift we can give ourselves is to reflect on the events of the past year and bring any unresolved hurts to the surface for healing. This is not the easiest practice however, rose medicine can soothe this inner journey.
This ritual works with the power of acceptance and the healing wisdom of rose medicine. Roses are an ancient flower that captivates the soul with beauty and fragrance. They have been used for healing and rituals for thousands of years. The rose holds a profound body of wisdom very connected to the Goddess and feminine mysteries.
By honoring and healing the hurts and pains that we've experienced we can set ourselves up for more success in the following year. Unresolved pain turns to anger and bitterness and create a pattern of attracting similar experiences until the wound is fully healed. Slowly but surely, we can nourish ourselves, acknowledge our pain gently, find peace in the ever-changing nature of our universe, and leave ourselves better prepared to flourish in the coming year.
Sacred Rose Ritual for Winter Solstice (Saturday Dec. 20th)
🌹Begin by honoring the rose wisdom and medicine by bringing it into your life. I suggest starting before solstice and doing some or all of the suggestions below before and during the full ritual. This can be done alone or with a friend.
Rose Medicine:
✨Rose tea to nourish the heart and sensuality
✨Bring in cut roses to honor your self worth and the cycles of life
✨Annoint your chakras with rose EO, front and back, to heal wounds towards the goddess and to activate the inner mystic
✨Take a rose bath to honor your body and heal from difficult relationships
✨Read about roses and their magic and wisdom, one book is the "Way of the Rose"
🌹On the day or night of the winter solstice, (a day before or after is OK), take your journal, your rose medicine, a candle, and some quiet time to go within.
🌹Set your space by creating a rose altar, burning some sage and/or rose petals, and light the candle reverently. Gently reflect on your inner heart space to listen to what needs to be brought up for healing and write this down. (I enjoy listening to some healing meditation music to get into the alpha or theta state.)
🌹Call on Mother Rose:
Mother Rose, you who were present long before we, and who will continue after we are gone, Bless this space and grant me your healing and wisdom.
Guide me to to embrace my everchanging true nature and the seasons of life with compassion, understanding and grace."
Adapted from Rebecca Campbell's "The Rose Oracle"
🌹Take your rose medicine in whatever way you feel called. Meditate on your inner wisdom. Know in your heart that we can find strength through adversity, and new dreams can grow in the ashes of the past. Without death, there cannot be growth.
🌹Connect to the candle and the sun in the spirit of renewal. Speak the Solstice renewal prayer.
I stand at the threshold of the longest night, In the stillness where darkness and light entwine, Where time pauses, and the world holds its breath—I call upon the sacred power of this moment.
I honor the deep darkness, Not as an absence, but as a womb—A sacred space where all life is conceived, Where dreams take root in the fertile soil of silence.
I welcome the return of the light, The promise of rebirth and renewal, as the sun begins its journey back toward us,
I open my heart to the warmth and the wonder of new beginnings.
🌹Give gratitude to the earth and sun for all the beautiful things in life as you blow out your candle. Gently fold and discard your journal pages, knowing that this cycle is complete. Continue with the rose medicine as long as needed. You can save any rose petals from the rituals to make offerings in nature.
Blessings to you!
